Most cybersecurity advice is paranoid. Here is what actually matters.
Update your software. Every security expert says this because it works. Most hacks exploit known vulnerabilities. Updates fix them. Do not click remind me later.
Phishing is how most attacks start. That email looks real. It is not. Check the sender address. Hover before you click. If something feels off, it probably is.
Back up your data. The 3 2 1 rule. Three copies, two different media, one offsite. Cloud backup counts. External drives count. Just have something.
Use a password manager. I said it before. I will say it again. It is the single most effective security improvement you can make.
The goal is not to be unhackable. That is impossible. The goal is to be harder to hack than the next person. Most attacks are opportunistic. Make yourself a hard target.
